Day 4

First day with my T.I.M.E material, started with SM 101101 (Basic QA study material) and naturally started with the easiest chapter(Simple Equations). Trying to finish the 2 exercises before going to bed but it seems highly unlikely, in which case they'll be taken for completion along with tomorrow's new chapter. Did some one hour+ of general reading, attended CAT class in the evening but due to power failure owing to the strong winds, class was dismissed.

P.S. Time: 1:15 AM kept up with my plan after all, finished both the exercises (35+35 probs) and going to bed now

Day 3

Wasted the whole morning in a useless trip to Andhra University (regarding BBM results for which countless people pestered me with incessant phone calls and dire threats), a trip to Sundaram Honda to get dad's car repaired and re-visiting Zeitgeist with Joy in the afternoon. Had Maggi at home, took a nap and continued on with our yapping, attended CAT class (6-8 pm) and got back. Our Verbal session today was handled by Sagarika (AU CSE Topper, CAT 96.8 Percentile, IIM B Batch of 2010-2012). Smart and talkative, she's 3 years my junior :D. And only God knows (oh sorry forgot God doesn't exist, at least in my world) how many people in this world endure their Juniors and Super-juniors taking their classes and hand-outs. 3rd day and still my so-called strategy hasn't taken shape and while the amount of time I spend on my comp has reduced significantly, I can't say the same regarding the increase in the amount of time I spend in front of my books. At least half the objectives are satisfied, not a bad way to begin. Logging off. Cya tomorrow with better news let's hope.

Day 2

Nothing worth boasting yet, but at least things are starting to fall in line. I've arranged my room and my cupboard today, a job I've been postponing for like ..... the past 8 months. Locked away all my 1st and 2nd year BBM books that I don't need in my final year in a trunk(whose age is 6 years, the trunk's story will have to wait yet), dusted my cupboard and guess what - I came across my brother's CAT material and mock test papers (he gave his CAT in 2004 before he left for the US pursuing his campus placement with Capital One. To my delight I found more than 15 unanswered, sealed mock tests and loads of study material too :):):) It was always the same with me, be it IIT JEE or AIEEE or for that matter anything in this world, always been an avid collector of things I consider of good value, no matter whether they'd turn out helpful to me or not later. Now I need to share with the rest of the world my exuberance at the new trove I dug out(from my cupboard!! does that say a thing or two about my sad state of affairs or the dilapidated condition that my room must be in?). My plans are taking shape, got my second AIMCAT next Sunday, am keen on putting up a better performance (anything North of 99+ is good against last Aimcat's 98.5). So that's for now, will do some vocabulary before I sleep, and an RC or two if time permits. More than anything what makes me happy at the end of the day is:

1) I drastically cut down the amount of time I sat on the computer over yesterday and today

2) I stopped playing stupid FB games Mafia Cities, Mindjolt and the Strategic addictive PC game Warcraft. That's quite something for an incorrigible gaming addict like me mind you!

3) Made a text file "Resolutions" on my desktop and I'll try to stick to whatever goes into the file no matter how difficult.

4) The Witwicky motto has been making the rounds in my mind "No Sacrifice, No Victory" good one eh? Don't thank me, thank Michael Bay the creator of Archibald James Witwicky.

Day 1 - Start low, take it slow

Not much to keep up with my promises, what with all that oath-taking ceremony in the morning and all but I assured myself after the visit to the Neuro Physician(thanx to my chronic migraine) that at least this time the treatment is gonna work and that my migraine won't hamper my CAT preparation like it did during my both attempts at IIT-JEE in the past. Well not really a day to be proud of but nothing to be ashamed of either, given the fact that I'm warming up to the idea of sitting down seriously and the thought of getting back to books sounds more appealing day after another day. Read 3 editorials today, well that's all for today (as of 8:24 PM in the night at least). Plan on starting the T.I.M.E material soon, that is after I chalk out a strategy about going over my preparation. That's all for today, good night and see you tomorrow

First post is always the easiest

Contrary to popular logic, the first post on a new blog is always the easiest to post, be it due to the bubbling enthusiasm that goes with the creation of a new blog, the intention behind the new blog or the author's self-promised commitment (which fails in 90% of the cases though) to post on a regular basis. The scores of blogs I own with not a single post to their credit are testimony to the above fact. So this morning while brushing my teeth I came across this wonderful idea of maintaining an online diary that traces the trails and travails my CAT 2010 preparation is gonna undergo. Sounds great, so without wasting a moment I sit on my computer, hands on the keyboard typing and backspacing furtively, toothbrush clung in the mouth for the past 25 minutes and still unable to finalize on the first post (Half an hour is the least amount of time I ever spent on a post, for the record). So coming back again, WHY THIS NEW BLOG?

1. More than anything I needed an e-conscience(WTF!!) to poke me that something's really not well with the way my preparation is going and that things needed an overhaul before they got out of control. Being the mean, self-centered egoist that I am, I couldn't care less for others who try to remind me how well I should be preparing or how many more efforts I ought to put in before facing that coveted of all exams. So, well this seems to be one of the tonics I needed for quite some time. The plan is simple, make up a plan over the next couple of days, openly proclaim it on this blog, try to stick to it, a plan spanning from now till the 1st week of November or so and hope it works :). And of course there will be a daily report by the close of the day to keep my progress up-to-date. Bah!! 40 minutes and I still have the toothbrush in my mouth!

2. Though this reason is only secondary, what better way to improve your English and Communication ability than writing? A post a day keeps your VA fear away lol this is the second time I'm paraphrasing the age-old saying regarding the doctor.

3. Not really sure that this diary helps anyone really, that's the least of intentions behind this blog BUT of the hundreds of thousands giving their CAT exam every year, let's hope that a handful might chance across this blog and find it helpful, identify their predicament with mine, use my 130+ posts to positively assert themselves and jumpstart their preparation if they're at ground zero in early June the way I am today.

I am Rahul Pinnamaneni and I take an oath now to start preparing for CAT 2010 solemnly and sincerely and not to let down the hopes so many have pinned on me; for a brighter future, for a better career and more importantly, to regain the lost honour and the tarnished credibility that have taken a beating time and again over the last 5 years. Today is the 5th of June, 2010 and this post shall remain a reminder of days wasted procrastinating, hours wasted in aimless online meandering and countless gaming hours (let the porn and other things stay out shall we?).

Good Luck to me and good luck to you if you've read the post till the very last word. May the light shine on our path. CAT 2010 HERE I COME. Gotta finish my brushing first, lol 50 minutes.
